Bergianska trädgårdenI went to have a walk at Bergianska trädgården after preparing the presentation materials. The cherries remind me of Yuyuantan in Beijing. The gardener happened to be there today and he had many good pictures as always. I am a fan of him now:) See here for his picture of Wisby. There will be a guided tour next Thursday. Mai Zetterling“I didn’t have young, handsome men for
admirers. I had unhappy creatures from loony
bins. Crackpots who whispered they’d pray for me, who sent me long
poems about God, about reincarnation. These chosen few with the mark on
their foreheads have always been drawn to me and I to them.” "I have been a child, a girl, a party doll, a mistress, a wife, a mother, a professional woman, a virgin and a grandmother. I have been a woman for more than fifty years and yet I have never been able to discover precisely what it is I am, how real I am. I ask myself - perhaps my femaleness is just a human disease." -Mai Zetterling Mai started her career as an actress in Bergman's films ('The Torment' and 'Music in the Darkness'. The latter is my favorite Bergman film before 1950s). Later she abandoned acting and became a director. The only film directed by her I watched is 'Älskande Par' (which was translated into 相敬如宾 in Chinese...) I feel that she was somewhat influenced by Bergman, perhaps because the cast was almost the same as 'Secrets of Women' (1952) or because there were also many flashbacks... (I updated this blog too frequently recently as I am kind of encouraged by the Swedish exam...But I will slow it down to at most once a week...) Karin Boye - Moln, 1922 Ja visst gör det ont (of course it hurts)Spring comes to Stockholm in one night, which makes me think of this poem by Karin Boye. I was so surprised that our math teacher's father was once married to her...This is a small city anyhow. Fårö themeQuite a long time ago, someone asked about the music at the end of Bergman och Fårö...Today I found it at Youtube! Youtube is unbelievable! Quote Talking about YouTube - Franz Schubert: Andantino from Sonata D 959 my swedish and bergmanThe Swedish exam turned out to be very easy...It asked questions like 'Who is Greta Gustafsson' or 'Name a film by Ingmar Bergman'... So quite probably (and unfortunately) I will become an Intermediate-level Swedish student although I can talk very little. Tack, Mr Bergman. I followed a very interesting blog these days. The owner had a (typical Swedish) picture of Greta Gustafsson's square. She is better known as Greta Garbo... Hedvig Eleonora KyrkaI passed by Hedvig Eleonora Church at Storgatan today. Bergman's father once was parish minister there. I read somewhere this church appeared in his first feature movie, Hets (The Torment). my top 10 bergman filmsA friend online mentioned The Seventh Seal. I don't know why it is the best received film by Bergman, perhaps because I am ignorant of theology. As far as I know, the most frequently mentioned Bergman films are: Wild Strawberries, The Seventh Seal, Fanny and Alexander and Smiles of a Summer Night. My top 10 Bergman films today are as follows. Of course people's taste often changes as time goes by. Persona(1966), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AW533vE_v78&feature=related socialism and bergmanI did not intend to link the clips when I just watched the first one although it is very interesting. I am trying to keep the posts Bergman-related. But he was mentioned anyhow in the second clip as one of the best things from Sweden:) Capitalism and socialism differ particularly in terms of social norms, I think.
another satire...Kind of combination of Joke1 and Joke 2. 'Look, the best thing is if we just get through it. We can pretend to understand and write a book about it later.' Quote Talking about YouTube - Bergman Days WWhttp://www.ingmarbergman.se/page.asp?guid=F2A6FB4D-8FB5-4FBD-8488-96290036B45A Wim Wenders will come to the Bergman week this year. homework3We were asked to write a short review of a film and I wrote about Cries and Whispers. There might be a lot of grammar mistakes. I began to learn Swedish for the sake of Bergman's films, but actually people talk very little there...
I slutet tar Anna
joke 2 YouTube - Ingmar Bergman Soap Commercial Another joke about The Seventh Seal and The Wild Strawberries. Not so funny as the first one though. a joke YouTube - THIRST (Ingmar Bergman for Coca-Cola?) The joke was by Leslie Chase. It has typical Bergman elements, especially in Persona and The Silence. Sometimes it is not bad to laugh at yourself. stamps etcI learned that Posten decided to issue 2 stamps to salute Bergman when I was in the Bergman weekend but had no idea where to buy them. Today I got it! Actually they are available at posten.se...I am verrrry happy! Here is the motivblad (collector's sheet), which only sells 36.5Kr whereas the transaction fees+the transportation fees are 40Kr... ![]() Here is the old pic I took. Kvarteret Korpen (1962)Quite different from the other two Widerberg movies (Lust och fägring stor and Elvira Madigan) I have seen, it's more like the style of De Sica or Rossellini while being set up in 1930s in Sweden. Sometimes I feel I am not 'proper' to love Bergman's films because they are so bourgeoisie... A film festival along the gender theme (Tema Genus). Not much to see...A good chance to re-watch Orlando though. btw, the Swedes never dub films, which is excellent! Thanks to Laurence for bringing this audio document to my attention. Expected or not, people's voice carries the air of their times, even she is Virginia Woolf. I would imagine her more as the wizard in 'Tom & Viv' than a great intelligent author I admire, only judging from this voice. The passage she read is a paragraph from Craftsmanship. (The printed version is different slightly.) See, she already talked about writing as a craft of words in 1937! (It seems people talk differently from the way they did. Say the voices in old Hollywood movies and movies nowadays, or the changes in the voices from Chinese TV programs. But I have not noticed any study about the evolution of human voices. Is it related to any social norm? Perhaps it is similar to the fact that people dress themselves in different ways...) we make money not art在金枝玉叶II的化装舞会里,张国荣扮Woody Allen,书房里搬出的海报中有37度2。 Money is money, you know... |
